A SAMPLING OF SERVICES PROVIDED BY

FOREST SAVERS® LLC

Brush can be cut and shredded several times more efficiently than cutting with chainsaws and feeding through chippers, plus most small stumps are eliminated and the soil is lightly tilled.

Forest Savers® has developed innovative new systems (patents pending)

to safely and efficiently construct and maintain high quality trails, restore overgrown

fields, clear brush and invasive plants from woodlands, and reduce wildfire hazard in the

wildland/urban interface.  click here for more photos of this system

Forest Savers'® unique, proprietary equipment can efficiently reclaim pastures overgrown with brush and

littered with rocks that stop conventional tractors and "bush hogs".  The rake on the front dislodges rocks

while the heavy duty mower on the back cuts and shreds trees up to 4 inches in diameter. Larger trees

are felled by chainsaw, their tops and branches shredded and the trunks removed from the site.

The tractor is armored in front and on the underside while the safety canopy allows the operator

to plunge into the densest thickets of brush, vines and thorns without worry or risk of injury.

Trails 4 feet wide and wider can be constructed with far less disturbance than bulldozing.

Using our unique brush cutting, shredding and trail building machine, Forest Savers® constructs and maintains trails that

are ideal for equestrians.  Not only does Forest Savers® efficiently cut and mulch brush, leaving no unsightly brush piles,

but also we can lightly till the trail,  removing small sharp stumps and smoothing the surface without damaging the roots of nearby trees.

Heavy understory brush before cutting and shredding with Forest Savers' innovative system.
A stand of pines that has been cleared of understory brush by Forest Savers' brush cutting and shredding system. Wildfire risk has been significantly reduced, aesthetics have been improved, and woodland management made easier.

Before

Understory brush in this pine stand increases fire risk, blocks views, impedes forest management, and is becoming too tall to provide good wildlife browse.

After

Brush has been efficiently cut and shredded without damage to the remaining larger trees.  Brush will resprout to provide tender browse for wildlife.

Before

An almost impenetrable tangle of brush, old wire fencing and crooked trees in an area where an old building had collapsed.

After

In a few hours Forest Savers®' brush cutting and shredding system had cleaned up the site and left the surface lightly tilled and smoothed.

This large sugar maple was slowly dying from the effects of acid rain despite the application of lime and wood ashes. It is hoped that the application of Wollastonite in the fall of 2004 will be successful in reversing the decline and slow death of this tree.

APPLICATION OF WOLLASTONITE

In the late fall of 2004 Forest Savers® conducted applications of Wollastonite (also known as calcium metasilicate or calcium silicate) which has been observed to be effective in improving the health and vigor of trees adversely affected by acid precipitation and deposition (acid rain).  At Hubbard Brook Experimental Forest, where Wollastonite was applied to Watershed One in 1999, ecological results are still preliminary, but very promising.  (see Researchers turn back time for acid-rain ravaged forest)

This sugar maple has had 500 pounds of Wollastonite spread around its base.
